Ladies and Gentlemen, Member of the floor.
The rapid spread
of the coronavirus has been an unprecedented shock to the global community. It
has impacted 5000 million dramatic loss of human life worldwide, devastating
economic and social disruption, and not to mention the education sector.
Education has
been hit hard. Students, schools, colleges, and universities have been deeply
impacted. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO), over 800 million learners from around the world have been affected, 1
in 5 learners cannot attend school, 1 in 4 cannot attend higher education
classes, and over 102 countries have ordered nationwide school closures while
11 have implemented localized school closure.
Each day
millions of children do not go to school due to emergencies and ongoing
humanitarian crises. The outbreak of COVID-19 has compounded the plight of
learners in countries affected and or emerging from conflict and disaster.
While the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) acknowledges the public health
decision to close schools.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Member of the
floor.
So, Yes, It is
undeniable fact that the covid-19 outbreak has ravaged our education system
into the crash but as a Z Generation we have to see this horrible disaster from
other perspectives. We should not only see this pandemic merely from a
devastating perspective that makes us hopeless and pessimistic toward our
education development. We believe, along with the grief, the pandemic has
strengthened us and accelerated our education development beyond what we have planned
before.
in 2016, the
government of Indonesia itself has started the education reformation by
bringing and integrating technology into the education system. it starts by
making necessary regulations, socialization, and training to the various actors
in education. This process was predicted will be fully implemented in 2030 and
required more years for the reflection and completion of the policy.
During these
three years, Covid-19 has emerged our education digitalization to transform
faster. This by far has pushed every stakeholder to struggle harder in making
education possible even in a crisis. The government ordered school closure in
almost all of the schools in every unit, university, senior high school, junior
high school, elementary even kindergarten level.
This radical
change in the education system is a shock-therapy to related stakeholders,
developers competed themselves in making a decent technological platform to
help teachers make the interaction, communication, and instructional design
possible to be implemented, teachers are spending days of learning those
platforms and designing a lesson, teaching methodology and strategy to
integrate technology in the teaching and learning process, and evaluation. Even
the parents have to adapt in assisting their children in studying from home,
especially for elementary and kindergarten students that still required direct
assistance from an adult.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Member of the
floor.
Now. The
implementation of digitalization in technology has become a new trend for our
teachers and students. Digitalization is no longer sounds alien to them.
Teachers and students now are familiar with the terms zoom, google meet, google
classroom, google form. Even now our teacher has put their teaching video on YouTube
which means that the teacher is now able to use technology in education and our
students have seen this as a normal trend. Many researches found that the
transformation of education that has firstly planed will be able to implement
in 2030 now in 2021 our schools have not only to implement digitalization but
also see this as a normal trend that everyone has mastered already.
This is a prof
that COVID-19 has pushed schools over the technology tipping point and
transformed education forever. To sum up, everything that has been stated so
far, (1) yes, covid-19 brings a devastating loss to humans but as a
z-generation, we need to see that this pandemic also brings us benefits
especially in education. it helps us in transforming our education
digitalization faster than ever, (2) we may achieve the higher result than what
we expected as long as all the social work together and push themselves harder,
the particular reason for the circumstances is the phenomenon where we
successfully achieved in three years what we have planned for the next 13 year.
Thank you.
