Writing Worksheet - Stating Opinion



Hi teachers.

In this post, we will share a worksheet that may be suitable for stating opinion in writing skill for second grade of senior high school based on Curriculum 2013 revised edition in Indonesia. To make everything possible, we would like to post a detail about the worksheet being posted here and also the full complete guideline and instruction on how to use it in the standard teaching and learning process as a disclaimer, it is widely open the chance for teachers to adapt and remake, redesign the worksheet based on their needs.

What is the worksheet looks like.

This worksheet is just a certain topic where the students need to response to those topic by providing a reasoning and applying the way on how to express and opinion. there are several topic brought to this worksheets and each students or team need to response to all of those topics one by one.

The Equipment/Tools

The tools that need to be prepared here are:

  1. The print out of the worksheets, one slide for one page.
  2. The glue or any other tools that make a paper adhered to a space (wall, blackboard, etc)
  3. A blank paper that will be used for the students to glue their opinion on.
  4. A small paper (a common paper that has been cut into four triangle) for a place for the students to write their opinion on.

Instruction / Implementation Guideline.

  1. The teachers explain the material on how to express an opinion.
  2. The teachers glue the papers with the topic that has been prepared in the worksheets to a space where the students may be possible to glue their opinion on and also prepared a piece of blank paper below the topic for the students to glue their response on.
  3. The teacher than announce what the students need to express or write their opinion on all the topic that has been published on the wall.
  4. Working in the group or individually is totally optional, the teacher may adjust with the condition in the classroom but it is recommended for the students to work in group to ease the discussion and guidance during the process of response making.
  5. The students who are done with the response may glue their small paper that contain their response to the paper right below the designated topic.
  6. The teacher may evaluate them gradually. 
  7. The teacher may gives feedback to the students after the evaluation done.
The role of the teachers.
  1. Instructor, 
  2. Facilitator,
  3. Group divider,
  4. Evaluator.
What to assess
What need to be assessed by the teacher is not a technicality such as the visualization of the writing, or any technical entity that outside the topic, here are the element that could be a focus of the teacher to evaluate.
  1. The use of Expression Opinion.
  2. The grammatical use in the opinion being stated.
  3. The Coherency of the reasoning.
  4. The Advance of the arguments.
  5. Vocabulary being used.
